Music Share is a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing senior social isolation through the use of individualized music-based programming. We provide older adults living in long-term care (LTC) with personalized music playlists based on their personal histories and preferences, in an effort to trigger cherished memories, reconnect them to their past, and stimulate various areas of the brain involved in memory and emotional processing. Trained facilitators curate the music listening experience providing participants with music that is familiar and meaningful. Music Share strives to support our LTC system by reducing the workload placed on care staff and improving residents’ overall quality of life.
Music Share would like to thank Docudavit Solutions Inc. for their incredibly generous and meaningful donation of two brand new iPads! These devices will be used to provide cherished music and meaningful one-to-one interactions to older adults living in long-term care. As a non-profit organization, Music Share relies on the generosity and support of our community and local businesses in order to achieve our mission of reconnecting older adults with their favourite music and reducing the amount of time they spend alone.
Due to new restrictions in our LTC communities, older adults across Ontario have faced extended periods of isolation in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Each of these donated iPads will provide countless hours of cherished music, and help Music Share make a positive impact in the lives of the seniors we serve.
