Here at DOCUdavit, we are proud supporters of the Terry Fox Foundation and are inspired by his story to help provide aid to future cancer research initiatives for Canadians. One thing Terry isn’t is a quitter. In 1980, he started his Marathon of Hope in St. John’s Newfoundland and ran 5,373 Kilometres across Canada. He ran close to 42 kilometres per day for 143 days in gruelling weather conditions through Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Quebec and Ontario. Although his journey ended in Thunder Bay Ontario, he’s been able to help raise more than $850 million and inspire millions of people across the world in the fight against cancer.
Since then, the Terry Fox Foundation has been able to fund 1,300 different innovative cancer research projects, and engage 3.5 million students in nearly 10,000 fundraising events annually.
